INCREMENTAL INVESTMENTS, LIKE THE EXPANSION OF THE ELECTRIC GRID, WILL COST FURTHER THOUSAND OF BILLIONS OF FORINTS.
Both inside and outside the Paks site, several investments will be necessary to integrate the two 1200 MW blocks delivered by Russia and the electricity generated by them into the electric power system. Mentioning only the most severe ones: for the cooling of the new reactors in Paks, cooling towers or new cold water pipelines have to be built; and to ensure the security of the electric power system, the country will need 700 MW stand-by capacity, so new power stations have to be built. These and other investments will have a cost of thousands of billions of forints. Citizens have to pay for this investment again, in the price of electricity.
