PAKS2 HAS ALTERNATIVES. THIS INVESTMENT TAKES RESOURCES AWAY FROM RENEWABLE ENERGY AND ENERGY EFFICIENCY INVESTMENTS.

The unreasonable, unnecessary and incredibly expensive gigantic investment of Paks2 would take away resources from the sustainable solutions in the electric power system and reserve the financial and other resources that would enable their use. The six blocks in Paks would make the electric power system inflexible in the 2020s. As a result, it would not be able to integrate the electricity generated in a decentralised way. That way would require a flexible system. Opinion polls clearly show that the majority of Hungarians share the opinion, that instead of other technologies, renewable energy resources could provide a reliable and long term solution. If the Paks2 project goes through, the option of sustainable solutions will be buried for decades.
