PAKS2 WILL NOT REDUCE ENERGY COSTS, IT WILL NOT INCREASE THE COUNTRY'S COMPETITIVENESS.
Talking about reducing utility costs in connection with this decision is nothing but political propaganda that misleads citizens. The new reactors of Paks power station would generate very expensive energy: it would cost at least 30 HUF per KWh. This means that the price of commercial electricity would increase by 50%. If the costs of the loan are financed by the state, it will hit the budget with an extra cost of 300 billion HUF. Consequently, the state will either have to collect this amount from the tax-payers, or other expenditures are have to be cut (e.g. even less will be spent on health care system and education). As a result of this gigantic investment our competitiveness would suffer. At the end of the day, the Hungarian economy has to pay the price.
